Cherub Infestation copyright Wanda C. Metcalf 2012 C Em F G We woke up Sun morning to a cherub infestation C Em F G It happens every year when they come out of hibernation Am Em Am Em They perch upon the rafters and sprawl along the floor F C F G We peer into the chimney and find a couple more C Em F G They bump their snubby noses against the window panes C Em F G They shed their downy feathers and clog up all the drains Am Em Am Em Undiapered, they leave a trail of lilac scented feces F C F G We can't just go and kill them – they're a protected species C Em F G I chase them with a broom and try to herd them all outside C Em F G They're really pretty agile as they pirouette and glide Am Em Am Em The chubby buggers shriek at me in little squeaky voices F C F G As I try to convince them that they haven't any choices C Em F G We finally lure them outdoors with a pot of fresh brewed tea C Em F G Why they come back every years a mystery to me Am Em Am Em I don't know anybody else who gets a cherub swarming F C F G C I guess I'll just consider it a sign of global warming
